A close look at the Drako GTE and why you should own one

The Drako GTE is a unique piece of American car culture. Not only is the car one-of-a-kind, but its company, Drako Motors, is also unique in that it only produces the Draco GTE for now, making it a small but powerful competitor in the electric car markets. We take to take a closer look at this beast of a machine to see what it has to offer.

The Drako company was created by a duo of tech entrepreneurs - Shiv Sikand and Dean Drako. After running a successful software company, the two decided to combine their love for cars into a new car company - Drako Motors. It was founded in 2013 and its first project, the DriveOS four-wheel torque vectoring, single-VCU drive operating system was launched in August 2015.

First and foremost is the look of the car itself. Its slick design and eye-catching color make the Drako stand out from other electric cars. It takes the four-door sedan to a whole new level of cool. It somehow manages to look mainstream as well as futuristic at the same time. Talk about it gelling with ICE cars and EVs without any fuss!

You will feel like Han Solo flying the Millennium Falcon when you pilot this creature. The Drako GTE features four electric motors that use highly advanced software algorithms so that the car can react with laser-like precision while applying positive and negative torque to each wheel. This level of control is said to be better than any current control solutions. The Drako’s driver-oriented "Quattro Manettino" consists of four console-mounted switches that give the driver full control over the car's functionality, including full control of torque vectoring, slip control, front to rear power distribution, and fine-grained regenerative braking control. This allows you to adjust powertrain characteristics to match your driving needs. The Quattro Manettino even allows the driver to choose from six different road surface conditions - race, track, dry, rain, snow, and even ice! This ensures that when you get behind the wheel of a Drako GTE, you will be able to handle any environment it comes across.

The Drako GTE's four individual magnet hybrid synchronous motors are nothing to scoff at. The quad-motor setup is able to unleash up to 1,200 horses making it one of the most powerful four-seaters ever made! While the 0-60 mph stats have yet to be revealed, the GTE Drako is able to reach a top speed of 206 mph!

Like most luxury cars, it's not just the outside or what's under the hood that matters - one also needs to feel comfortable when inside the car as well. Whether you are behind the wheel or riding as a passenger, the Drako will cradle you gently in its high-quality interior tailor-made for comfort. As an "ultra-premium grand touring supercar" the GTE Draco has luxury in mind while being able to accommodate four passengers as well as their luggage. It provides ample legroom and easy ingress and egress, and all the seats are designed with a blend of hand-stitched leather and Alcantara. This combines excellent comfort while also giving "supportive bolstering" for high-performance driving. And, the best part is that buyers will be able to personalize their GTE, which offers a wide range of colors, materials, and finishes. It doesn't get much fancier than that!

In order to provide the driver with all that speed and power, the Drako is going to need an incredible battery that is built for power, which is exactly what the designers gave it. The Drako GTE features a 90-kWh, 450-volt unit made up of 10,000 cells, capable of producing 1,800 amps of continuous power with a 2,200-amp peak. Shiv Sikand, executive vice president and co-founder of Drako Motors says, "This is not a 100,000-mile battery. The cells have a limited lifetime. Instead, the battery is built for power. It's similar to a Tesla battery in concept, except we use a highly parallel cooling-tube design to manage the very high thermal loads. We want the car to keep right on accelerating until it hits its 206-mph Vmax. The cells are going to deliver very good range, and they're definitely going to give you very strong, non-degrading performance."

While the Draco GTE is able to dish out some incredible speed and power, it's also surprisingly quiet. This is great for drivers who don't enjoy blaring engine noises in their quiet neighborhoods. It also makes for a peaceful ride that passengers are sure to enjoy on longer drives.

Worried about how the Drako GTE is going to grip the road? Worry no more! For the Road Package, the Drako will come with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, while the Track Package comes with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Quality tires for a quality drive!

The Drako GTE price is $1.3 million - substantial to say the least. But, with such fine engineering, a high price will naturally come along with it. We are sure to see the Drako GTE in millionaire garages all over the world.
