A cup filled with ice and soda is seen near the beach. Big Red, invented in San Antonio, can be used to make Raspas during hot days.

Those looking to beat the heat in South Texas should look no further, as one TikTok shows how to make a shaved ice raspa using Texas' own Big Red.

The video, which has attracted more than 1.4 million views and 193,000 likes since being posted last week, shows an employee of Sab's Candy Shop in the Rio Grande Valley using an ice block and a can of Big Red to make the raspa, or shaved ice treat. The employee uses an ice shaving machine to grind the ice block into shavings that they then pour Big Red over, allowing the ice to soak up the soda after poking several holes.

Like a snow cone, the ice quickly becomes dyed the signature Big Red scarlet, and the employee then puts more ice on top, fitting underneath the half-sphere lid. One would imagine it's not too hard to crush the ice yourself, without the aid of a machine.

Sab's Candy Shop is located in Harlingen, about 26 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border.

Reaction to the video was decidedly positive, with many users expressing gratitude for Big Red's existence.

"Thank god I'm from Texas," user vanessagalindo06 commented on the post. "I can't believe so many people have never tried it or heard of it. It's even better when you mix it with Dr. Pepper."

"Don't worry only a month or so until the Big Red & Barbacoa Festival," another user, jayjones789, wrote.

Several other users commented that Big Blue, another flavor launched in 2008 by Big Red, Inc., is even better than the original.
